Jesus teaches us to develop a habit of daily prayer, and in particular to ask for our daily needs to be met. And yet, in so many other places, Jesus tells us to not worry about our daily needs, that God knows our needs before we even ask them. So then why does he teach us to pray; Give us today our daily bread?

Perhaps, the person being influenced by this prayer is not God, but us.
